Projects >> Ka Leo O Wai'anaeKa Leo O Wai'anae, "The Voice of Wai'anae," is the print news publication of Searider Productions that serves the community of Wai'anae High School. In the 2003-2004 school year, under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Liberty Peralta and teacher-advisor Lorraine Gershun, Ka Leo O Wai'anae expanded coverage and distribution beyond the Wai'anae High School campus to include the Leeward Coast community. This change paid off, for in 2004, Ka Leo O Wai'anae was one of two papers named as best high school newspaper in the State of Hawaii in the 35th Annual Hawaii High School Journalism Contest. By producing a high-quality monthly newspaper, students hone writing, editing, visual design, and production skills that are needed in client commercial projects. Below are two above-the-fold shots of the front page of recent editions of Ka Leo O Wai'anae.

"I liked the fact that I was a part of a team that helped spread some important messages to people our age, news that affected them in some way. Passion in what you're doing is very important. You can't possibly put out something of quality if you don't care about it."Liberty Peralta Editor-in-Chief |
